Artist's Comments
=Majoh suggested that we both paint American Girl characters, but as adult pinups done in the painting style of their respective era.
No, I'm serious, she did. And in a move I may learn to regret later, I thought it was hilarious and I agreed to do it. Soooo this is Molly, the World War II girl, all grown up and showing her support of the troops in the best way she can. The concept started out as an old propaganda poster with big text on the top saying "You keep making 'em...", and on the bottom saying "...we'll keep dropping 'em!". Maybe also "U.S. Air Force" or "Buy War Bonds" or something too, but in any case, fitting in the text would have made Molly too small, and let's be honest, she's what I want to paint and what you want to look at. Now it's more like an Alberto Vargas pinup, complete with cute undersized Air Force jacket. I had a lot of fun with it, especially with the folds of the jacket and shorts. If I have corrupted your childhood, please feel free to call me a horrendous pervert in the comments below. Although I would prefer that you criticize it on its artistic quality first Be sure to keep an eye on =Majoh for hers...if she ever stops making David Cook fanart |
